🌿 Cultivation Club: Governance for Trader Joe Farms
A Club that enables Community Members to participate in the management of ‘Community farms’ on the Trader Joe Platform. The Club will launch with an established Committee Panel of Veteran Community members, who will make up the ‘Cultivation Committee’. This Committee panel will be responsible for executing the collective decisions of The Cultivation Club. Over time, we expect the Cultivation Club to evolve into a fully self-governed body and play a vital role in the success of the Trader Joe ecosystem.
To join this Club, you must be a Discord member and have the #JOE rank unlocked. This is unlocked through Discord engagement, such as simply chatting to fellow members and engaging in community events
🌿 Why launch this Club?
There are many promising new/small projects on Avalanche that would benefit from a Farm allocation slot on the Trader Joe Platform. However, not all of these projects can be supported. Instead of the Trader Joe Team deciding which projects can be supported, the Team would like to let the Community have full governance over the ‘Community Farm’ allocations.
🌿 What is a Community Farm?
These are projects that are newly launched/small on Avalanche, that will have an expected minimum Farm TVL of $100k. The Cultivation Club, will have a select quota of approximately 10–15 farms. The Club will Manage these Farms through a fair and democratic governance process. The Club themselves will be deciding the exact governance framework to be used.
🌿 The Purpose of The Cultivation Club
Similar to the process of crop cultivation, the Club’s purpose will be to help identify promising projects, to support the foundations of early-stage growth.
Allocation of a Community Farm spot is beneficial for a number of reasons. Farms are a source of token discovery for many users on the Trader Joe platform. An allocated spot, therefore, drives higher levels of brand awareness, increasing market penetration for the project and in turn, driving more engagement. Additionally, an incentivized Farm will help to generate deeper liquidity for the selected project. There Club is therefore empowered with the ability to drive the success of projects on Avalanche.
🌿 What exactly will the Cultivation Club be responsible for?
The Cultivation Club will be responsible for the management of ‘Community Farms’. This is a new initiative and we expect the significance and governing process of the Club, will evolve with time. Key responsibilities are (loosely) defined below:
Selection
Public discussion held over Discord when deciding the allocation of Farm Slots and Multipliers for those chosen Farms (JOE Emissions)
All projects can be considered by the Community, even ‘meme’ tokens
Management
The quota of 10–15 Farms to be managed
New Farm allocation options, reviewed every two weeks
Maintenance
Monitoring of TVL for Community Farms
Adjustments for Multipliers (emissions)

The Trader Joe team will officially launch the Cultivation Club today (25th)

🌿 Next steps for the Cultivation Club
- Agree on the Clubs voting mechanism for passing governance decisions
- Review & Add new Farms to the existing Community Farms
- Trader Joe Team to setup a bi-weekly comms schedule with The Cultivation Club to review Community Farms
During the launch phase of The Cultivation Club, the Trader Joe Team will reserve the right to action Farm Management proposals put forward by the Club. The Team see this as a transitionary role that will be played, while the Club ‘finds it feets’ in establishing an efficient governance framework post launch.
